Exploring the LED Bed

LightStim Elipsa and LightStim ProPanel

Our Director of Education Amy Garnder provides an in-depth look into LightStim's premier device: the LED Bed. She also explores the connection between LED light therapy, wellness, and the benefits your clients will enjoy with this popular service.

The Word on Wellness

Interest in proactive wellness has indeed skyrocketed over the past several years. As our understanding of the human body and the aging process grows, so does our awareness that the choices we make could be even more important than the genes we inherit. We now know that a wellness-driven lifestyle can not only improve the quality of our day-to-day lives, it can also actually help us prevail over inevitable health challenges as the years go by. As if this isn’t motivation enough, “optimization” has also entered the mix. While performing optimally – physically, mentally, and emotionally – used to be considered the domain of elite athletes, these intentions are now shared by many of us who have come to understand that the body/mind is supremely capable, even as we age, if we just pay attention to its needs.

So, how do we do that, and what is a wellness-driven lifestyle? Lucky for us, it mostly revolves around simple, common-sense habits like maintaining a healthy diet, getting plenty of exercise and sleep, managing stress, and connecting with others in a meaningful and gratifying way. Of course, there are also wellness-driven therapies, the benefits of which have been enjoyed at spas for centuries. Much newer to the scene are wellness driven treatments that utilize advanced technology. Smart, non-invasive technologies that work in harmony with the body’s inherent mechanisms for growth, healing, repair, and defense are in demand everywhere from spa and medical settings to private homes. One of the most sought-after treatments is full body light therapy, also known as red light therapy, low-level light therapy, LED therapy, and photobiomodulation.

Light Therapy & Wellness

Low-level light therapy has been in use for decades. Hundreds of studies (including those conducted by NASA) have documented benefits such as increased cellular energy and signaling, which in turn promote tissue healing, reduction of pain and inflammation, skin rejuvenation, better duration and quality of sleep –even improvements in mood.

LightStim LED Bed

LightStim has responded to the call for wellness-based technology with the first-ever FDA Cleared LED Bed. This state-of-the-art device helps promote full body wellness and peak physiological function with gentle and restorative light-based energy. Treatment is non-invasive, safe, does not use UV, and is appropriate for most people. It’s also easy to use and does not require a licensed technician for operation. In fact, this soothing and relaxing treatment can be self-administered, something that is often regarded as a distinct advantage in the wellness space.

LightStim LED Bed is FDA Cleared to temporarily relieve arthritic pain, a variety of minor aches and pains, increase blood circulation, and relax muscles:

Reduced Pain – Chronic pain is among the most common chronic conditions in the US, affecting approximately 50.2 million adults. Its impacts are many, including restrictions in mobility and daily activities, diminished quality of life; even anxiety and depression. With demand moving in the direction of wellness-driven therapies, interest in non-pharmacological treatments is on the rise with a particular focus on advanced technologies that work with the body to alleviate both the source and sensation of pain.

Improved Blood Circulation – Proper blood circulation is critical to all healthy biological processes, including optimal skin function. Blood carries oxygen, nutrients, and chemical messengers throughout the body to keep cells, tissues, organs, and systems working at peak efficiency.

Muscle Relaxation – Light therapy is what you expect at a spa – it just feels good. It’s warm and soothing, evokes a connection to positive energy, and provides a perfect opportunity to meditate for a complete mind-body experience. When you add to this that relaxed muscles not only hurt less, but they can also help control blood pressure and improve digestion, relaxation takes on a whole new meaning.

LightStim LED Bed is composed of over 18,000 LEDs with 4 distinct wavelengths of therapeutic red and infrared light – 630 & 660nm red, and 855 & 940nm infrared. It utilizes LightStim MultiWave® Patented Technology, the technology upon which the company has built its success for over 23 years. Additional design features include a unique and patented thermo-regulation system to promote optimal blood circulation throughout the entire body, and a highly specialized acrylic surface that inhibits light distortion for better energy absorption and superior results.

Also unique to LightStim LED Bed is its single-surface design. Unlike clamshell or tanning-style beds with a top and a bottom, LightStim LED Bed is designed with only one surface. Because the distance from the light source to the skin is critical to efficacy, the recommended treatment consists of two sessions – one on the back of the body and one on the front. While lying on the back, the face may be treated with LightStim ProPanel, a stand-alone device that is included with an LED Bed purchase.

Recommended treatment time is 40 minutes total (20 minutes per side), however, LightStim LED Bed’s easy-to-use control panel allows you to program your treatment time as desired.

With all of these benefits and features in mind, it’s easy to see why LightStim LED Bed is the favorite of so many well-known personalities like Dr. Paul Nassif of the TV show Botched, and Dave Asprey of Upgrade Labs, also known as “The Father of Biohacking.” Professional athletes like Chris Paul, Devon Booker, Saquon Barkley, and Tobias Harris also rely on LightStim to help them perform better and recover faster.

While it’s worth mentioning that so many celebrities choose LightStim, it’s also important to note that this technology is accessible to anyone who chooses to invest in looking, feeling, and living better – today and every day to come.
